Our Commitment

Noongil is designed for Parkinson's families and members who may prefer voice-first interaction because typing or detailed forms can be difficult. Accessibility is central to the product, and we are continuing to audit and improve it as the app moves toward public release.

We are committed to ensuring that the Noongil app is usable by as many people as possible, including those who rely on assistive technologies.

Current Accessibility Features

Voice-First Design

  • The app is designed around voice interaction. Core workflows such as daily check-ins and care journaling can be completed through conversation with minimal touch interaction.
  • Three conversation modes accommodate varying connectivity and preference needs.

VoiceOver Support

  • Accessibility labels and hints are provided for core voice-session states, navigation controls, legal documents, reminders, and primary app actions.
  • Visual state indicators such as connection status, listening, thinking, speaking, and session completion have corresponding text descriptions.
  • We continue to audit secondary screens for complete screen-reader coverage.

Motor Accessibility

  • Primary workflows use simple, single-tap interactions and voice-first input.
  • Core controls are designed with large touch targets and do not require pinch, multi-finger, or precision gestures.
  • We continue to audit every secondary control for consistent target size.

Reduce Motion

  • The companion orb, status ring, intro animations, and shared animation helpers respect the system "Reduce Motion" setting.
  • When Reduce Motion is enabled, supported animations are replaced with static or simpler transitions.

Visual Design

  • The app supports light and dark interface styles.
  • The companion orb provides visual feedback through color, glow, and text status.
  • Cards and panels use separation, spacing, and hierarchy to make care context easier to scan.

Known Gaps and Roadmap

We are transparent about areas where we are continuing to improve:

Larger Text / Dynamic Type (In Progress)

  • The app does not yet fully support Dynamic Type for text scaling. Users who rely on large text sizes may encounter truncated or overlapping text in some views.
  • Target: Full Dynamic Type support across all views.

Voice Control and Switch Control (In Progress)

  • Basic navigation should work for many standard controls, but we have not completed a full Voice Control or Switch Control audit for every primary and secondary workflow.
  • Target: Verify speakable labels, linear focus order, and custom action support across all primary workflows.

Color Contrast Ratio

  • While the app generally provides high contrast, some secondary text elements may not meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text) in all theme configurations.
  • Target: WCAG 2.1 AA compliance for all text elements.

Captions and Audio Descriptions

  • Noongil does not currently include long-form video content that requires captions or audio descriptions.

We are working toward compliance with:

  • WCAG 2.1 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) at Level AA
  • Apple Accessibility Programming Guide for iOS
  • Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (for potential future government use)
